Empowering Future Leaders For Success

Back to School 2020

  • August 8, 2020

    Patriot Students & Parents,

With the release of the school benchmarks from ADHS last week, Mohave Accelerated Schools has made the formal decision to begin the school year with Distance Learning.  Information about ADHS benchmarks can be obtained at their website under School (Childcare & K-12) and Universities

With that being said, MALC/MAES will be starting the new year off using its Distance Learning Plan (DLP).  That plan can be viewed on the school's webpage at  What this means is that all students will begin learning from home starting Monday, August 17th.  K-5 will be using the Zoom platform for video instruction, while 6-12 will be utilizing Microsoft Teams.  More information about distance learning will be given out during the Galileo Assessment visit (K-10), 11th & 12th grade will receive information via email.  In addition to distance learning, the state requires all schools to offer "On-site Learning Opportunities."  Those opportunities are required to begin on August 17th as well.  The On-site Opportunity policy can also be viewed on the school's webpage.  This policy exists to protect a student's education for families lacking the resources to participate in distance learning.  Parents will need to inform the school if they are not able to distance learn from home and need to send their child(ren) each day to school to receive distance learning instruction from campus.

Starting Monday, August 17th, all students will be logging in to their classroom(s) for live video instruction throughout the school day (Monday - Thursday, during your regular instructional hours).  Please note, Friday School and the After-School Program will resume once "in-person instruction" resumes (No After-School Program). There will be periodic breaks like a traditional school day.   Lunches will be available for all distance learning families to pick up on Monday mornings on the north side of the Battleground and East Campus.  Students who participate in the school lunch program will have the ability to pick up four breakfasts and four lunches each week on Mondays, from 8am - 11am.  This is only for students who participate in the school lunch program, and you will be charged for breakfasts & lunches the same as if you were on campus. Students who are receiving their distance learning education on campus will participate in the lunch program as normal with a lunch period.

Parents & students, it is important to recognize that you are the first line of defense to help stop the spread of COVID-19.  If you don't feel well, or notice your child is showing symptoms, please stay home, monitor their health, and get tested if needed.  It is very important that we work together as a team to keep all Patriots safe and healthy, so we can resume to normal school instruction as soon as possible.  Mohave Accelerated Schools will closely follow the data and information from the County Health Department to reassess as to when the school will reopen to in-person instruction.  Parents and students will be notified through email, class discussion, social media, and/or by phone when in-person instruction resumes for all students.

     GO PATS!

     Educationally yours,

    Casey M. Mulligan
